Santa Ynez Wedding Photographer | 2021 Recap

bLOG CATEGORIEs + Search

After a year like 2020, this Santa Ynez wedding photographer was thrilled by the return of weddings in 2021. It’s crazy to think that in January, I only had 4 weddings booked for the year. After all is said and done I shot a total of 22 weddings this year. Plus another 20 couples got in front of my camera for engagement and portrait sessions. It has been a whirlwind, but I feel so grateful to get to do this for work!

While weddings this year may have looked smaller in scope and size, they were all the more special after so many couples were faced with postponing their marriages in 2020. One of my favorite things about the increased trend of elopements is that they allow me to spend even more time with my couples on their wedding day. They gave me the opportunity to fill their wedding galleries with beautiful romantic portraits of just the two of them.

2021 gave me the opportunity to explore several new venues, from the Central Valley to the heart of Orange County. I loved getting to see new places and felt so inspired by these new settings. I had the opportunity to expand my services and capture a beautiful proposal at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara. There’s nothing like being part of these once-in-a-lifetime memories for my couples. I also had the honor of celebrating and capturing the weddings of not just one, but two of my best friends!

Passionate about turning your most heartfelt moments into your legacy of love

When I was first getting to know my husband, Michael's, family, I loved hearing the stories of their marriages— the good times and bad, better and worse, joy as well as sorrow, and always love. But the very first time I saw his grandmother’s collection of family wedding photos perched atop her mantel I had to stop and take in what over 200 years of marriage looked like on display. As I looked on at the images framed on the mantel, immediately all of the stories shared by Michael’s grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins came rushing through my head, and it was so easy to trace them all back to the days they said “I do.” In my role as a wedding photographer, I capture all of the raw emotions of your big day, so when you look back at those images you are reminded of the fullness in your heart and you can see how that first day of marriage created a legacy of love.
