Museum of Ventura County Wedding | Angie & Gilbert

Angie is no stranger to weddings, having worked in the industry for several years. In fact, it’s how she and I first met. And after 14 years, Angie and Gilbert finally got to take the next step in their relationship. Their Ventura County wedding was so true to who they are as a couple: relaxed and focused on family and loved ones.

They chose their wedding date in honor of Angie’s grandparents who also celebrated August 28th as their wedding anniversary. Family comprised their wedding party, and two of Angie’s brothers played guitar as she walked down the aisle with her dad and grandfather, with whom she also shared special dances during the reception.

This day had been so long-awaited, it was especially important to the couple to make time to take great portraits as husband and wife. We drove up to San Buenaventura City Hall for their romantic portraits, something Angie had been looking forward to most about the day. The sweeping architecture of the building added to the majestic feeling of the day. And just by having them turn the opposite direction, we were also able to capture Gilbert’s favorite view of the city, peering down at bustling Downtown Ventura.

If there’s one thing you should know about Angie, it’s that she is the life of the party. It’s no surprise that during the reception, under Angie’s lead, the drinks were flowing freely and the dance floor stayed full. In fact, when it came to keeping the energy up, she may have had some competition from her dad! He was commanding so much attention on the dance floor, he may have given Angie a run for her money!

Angie and Gilbert, knowing how long you two have been looking forward to this day, it was such a joy getting to help you celebrate and capture these special memories. Thank you for letting me be there, as a vendor and as a friend.

Passionate about turning your most heartfelt moments into your legacy of love

When I was first getting to know my husband, Michael's, family, I loved hearing the stories of their marriages— the good times and bad, better and worse, joy as well as sorrow, and always love. But the very first time I saw his grandmother’s collection of family wedding photos perched atop her mantel I had to stop and take in what over 200 years of marriage looked like on display. As I looked on at the images framed on the mantel, immediately all of the stories shared by Michael’s grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins came rushing through my head, and it was so easy to trace them all back to the days they said “I do.” In my role as a wedding photographer, I capture all of the raw emotions of your big day, so when you look back at those images you are reminded of the fullness in your heart and you can see how that first day of marriage created a legacy of love.
