Angie and Gilbert’s Carpinteria Bluffs engagement photos were especially fun because of the personal connection I have to the couple. I met Angie a few years ago when we worked for the same company. She was the first person I spoke with on my first day on the job. My first impression of her was that she had a bit of a steely exterior. I honestly didn’t know if I’d ever be able to connect with her. But as we got comfortable with each other I finally got to see Angie for who she really is. And Angie has one of the most fun-loving, effervescent personalities of anyone I’ve ever met. It was truly an honor to be able to capture that in her engagement photos.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather on this day! The nature preserve truly showed off the very best of what the California coast has to offer. The glowing golden light we had at the bluffs added the perfect retro feel to these images, complementing their perfectly coordinated Rolling Stones tees for the first part of the session. This rocker couple first connected over their shared music tastes when they were in their teens. Now they’ve been together for 12 years (!!!)

If we’re being honest, this session was pretty typical as far as they guy’s experience usually goes. Leading up to our session, Angie told me that Gilbert wasn’t super excited to get his picture taken. I could definitely sense he was a little timid at the beginning of the shoot. But as we progressed through the session, he opened up and started having fun with it. As we wrapped up right as the sun was setting, he looked at me and said, “that actually wasn’t so bad!” I’ll take that as a win 🙂

Please enjoy some favorites from this engagement session!

Passionate about turning your most heartfelt moments into your legacy of love

When I was first getting to know my husband, Michael's, family, I loved hearing the stories of their marriages— the good times and bad, better and worse, joy as well as sorrow, and always love. But the very first time I saw his grandmother’s collection of family wedding photos perched atop her mantel I had to stop and take in what over 200 years of marriage looked like on display. As I looked on at the images framed on the mantel, immediately all of the stories shared by Michael’s grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins came rushing through my head, and it was so easy to trace them all back to the days they said “I do.” In my role as a wedding photographer, I capture all of the raw emotions of your big day, so when you look back at those images you are reminded of the fullness in your heart and you can see how that first day of marriage created a legacy of love.
