While I love a beautiful outdoor location as much as the next photographer, there’s something to be said about a simple indoor couples session. A beautiful backdrop can do a lot of heavy-lifting for an image. But when you strip that away, you really get to hone in on the subjects in front of the camera.
I was thrilled when Tatum and Jordan gave an enthusiastic YES when I suggested bringing their engagement session indoors. Tatum and Jordan’s engagement session took place in their hometown of Ventura. We chose a clean studio setting with a white backdrop so the focus could really be on the couple and their chemistry.
The session was driven by an edgy and editorial feel, and the pair definitely met the brief with their wardrobe. Jordan dressed in a classic black and white shirt and dress pants combination (a far cry from his everyday style, which Tatum affectionately refers to as “peak southern california surfer dude”). For her part, Tatum wore a sultry black midi-dress with a daring cutout at her midsection.
We captured this session just a few weeks ahead of their big day, and their excitement for the next stage of their relationship was palpable.
