Lisa and Chhay’s February wedding at The Casino San Clemente showcased all the best that southern California has to offer. Blue skies and golden light shone upon the couple and their 200+ guests.
Though they have officially been a couple for four years, their story goes back much further than that. Their parents have been friends for a long time, and their families even went on vacations together when they were younger. During our initial call, Lisa even told me that she remembered having a crush on Chhay and thinking he was cute even back then!
They started spending more time together when her cousin began dating Chhay’s brother. The four of them eventually coupled up into two pairs, and she knew pretty quickly that he was the one.
Lisa had three distinct bridal looks: her ceremony dress was a romantic lace design with detached sleeves. She swapped the sleeves for thin straps for their grand entrance and first dance. For the remaining reception formalities, Lisa changed into a luxe sheath gown with dramatic, oversized, off-the-shoulder puff sleeves. Not to be outdone, Chhay also had an outfit change. He wore a traditional black tuxedo for the ceremony, and swapped it out for a charcoal grey suit for the party.
The couple share a Cambodian heritage, so incorporating elements that honored their culture was especially important to them. During the reception, they were treated to an Apsara dance performance, a traditional Cambodian dance.
When it was time to open the dance floor, they and their guests were more than ready. The couple has always enjoyed attending EDM festivals together, and brought that high-energy feel to their reception. They got the crowd going even more with a few blasts from a CO2 cannon.
As they went through the process of selecting the vendor team, feeling comfortable with the individuals who would play a part in their big day was a big priority. Lisa said that after seeing my work online and reading reviews from past clients, she knew immediately that she wanted to work with me.
