In the heart of the Los Angeles arts district is The Unique Space. This eclectic venue truly lives up to its name.

The concept for this shoot was put together by Jessica Valenzuela, the principal event planner and designer at Not Jessa Planner. She explained her inspiration as follows:

This shoot stemmed from my love for crystals and geode. To add a twist of elegance, I decided to choose a light purple tone with greys and whites to complement. The stone I chose was white agate. It is the stone for support when you need stability and grounding in your life. Along with its supportive energy, the agate stone has long been admired for its incredible beauty.

And in this case, it represented the love Valerie and Armando carry. In their relationship, they both support one another as they venture into life as one. The little details throughout the shoot incorporated the agate stone—from the invitations, to the place cards, bridal crown, and more.

What spoke to me about the venue was the rooftop scenery of downtown Los Angeles. It showcased the beautiful city where Valerie and Armando met. The Unique Space offered not just one area, but multiple areas to shoot and be inspired to develop creative content.

What I was hoping to convey throughout this shoot was the elegance and symbolism of the agate stone, using very subtle details. In my eyes, it’s all in the details and how you incorporate the couple’s love story.

Passionate about turning your most heartfelt moments into your legacy of love

When I was first getting to know my husband, Michael's, family, I loved hearing the stories of their marriages— the good times and bad, better and worse, joy as well as sorrow, and always love. But the very first time I saw his grandmother’s collection of family wedding photos perched atop her mantel I had to stop and take in what over 200 years of marriage looked like on display. As I looked on at the images framed on the mantel, immediately all of the stories shared by Michael’s grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins came rushing through my head, and it was so easy to trace them all back to the days they said “I do.” In my role as a wedding photographer, I capture all of the raw emotions of your big day, so when you look back at those images you are reminded of the fullness in your heart and you can see how that first day of marriage created a legacy of love.
