Engagement Photos in Santa Barbara | Joel & Alondra

I feel so grateful to work with couples who trust my knowledge and experience. When Joel and Alondra were ready to schedule their session to take their engagement photos in Santa Barbara, they asked for recommendations. Since they aren’t from the area, they were open to any suggestions I had regarding location. And while the Carpinteria Nature Preserve is one of my tried and true favorites, my session with Joel and Alondra featured one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed there. How lucky am I to have this backdrop so close to home?

While the background can add a lot to an image, I am, of course, focused on the people. More often than not, my couples’ engagement sessions are the first time they are getting professional photos together. As a wedding and engagement photographer, it’s so special to see the couples I’m working with transform in front of the camera. It’s common for the session to start on a more timid note. But it didn’t take long for Joel and Alondra to get warmed up. By the end of our session, you would have never known this was their first time taking pictures. They had such a natural air and (dare I say) coolness about them.

Joel and Alondra, I loved seeing the way you two opened up during our time together. I still can’t believe this was your first time taking photos together. You made it all look so effortless in front of the camera. You two have such a calm and easy presence as a couple, which I know you attribute to your shared faith. I’m so looking forward to your Pacific View Tower wedding later this year. And I can’t wait to help you capture even more special memories then.

Passionate about turning your most heartfelt moments into your legacy of love

When I was first getting to know my husband, Michael's, family, I loved hearing the stories of their marriages— the good times and bad, better and worse, joy as well as sorrow, and always love. But the very first time I saw his grandmother’s collection of family wedding photos perched atop her mantel I had to stop and take in what over 200 years of marriage looked like on display. As I looked on at the images framed on the mantel, immediately all of the stories shared by Michael’s grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins came rushing through my head, and it was so easy to trace them all back to the days they said “I do.” In my role as a wedding photographer, I capture all of the raw emotions of your big day, so when you look back at those images you are reminded of the fullness in your heart and you can see how that first day of marriage created a legacy of love.
